The CONTOUR®NEXT USB and CONTOUR®NEXT LINK
meters do not require a cable to transfer data to a computer. They can each be plugged directly into a computer's USB data port, and they each come with GLUCOFACTS DELUXE diabetes management software installed. Please reference the information above for system requirements and meter compatibility.
If you own a The BREEZE® 2, CONTOUR®, CONTOUR® LINK, CONTOUR®XT or CONTOUR®NEXT meter, you will need to request a data cable to connect your meter to your computer. There are two versions of the Ascensia data cable offered, one for use with a computer's USB data port, and the other that uses a computer's serial port.

Both of these Data Cables are proprietary to Ascensia Diabetes Care Ireland Ltd, so you will need to install the appropriate cable driver software before using them for the first time. (see below)

The CONTOUR NEXT meter uses a USB 2.0 A Male to Micro B 5-pin male cable to transfer data from the meter to a computer. The is available in the electronics department of most retail stores or from a mobile phone store. This cable is compatible with many smartphones, such as the Motorola™ Droid, HTC Evo®, and newer Blackberries, so you may already have this type of cable.

|Q:||I am having difficulties using GLUCOFACTS DELUXE with my meter.|
|A:||Check you have installed the cable drivers for GLUCOFACTS DELUXE correctly.
If your USB cable does not install, you may need to download and install our cable driver software. If you need the latest cable drive, please contact Ascensia Diabetes Support on 1 890 920 111 (Mon-Fri, 8am – 8pm)
If you have a query concerning the use of GLUCOFACTS DELUXE please call Ascensia Diabetes Support, Monday – Friday, 8.00am – 8.00pm on 1 890 920 111 (UK). Please have the name and serial number of your meter to hand when you call.

|Q:||How do I get upgrades for GLUCOFACTS®DELUXE diabetes management software?|
|A:||GLUCOFACTS DELUXE software checks for updates on the Internet every 7 days and if updates are available you will get a link to download the latest software. The latest version is always available as a free of charge download from the diabetes.ascensia.co.uk website.|
|Q:||Where can I find information on my operating system?|
|A:||A. Windows® users should click on the System icon in the Control Panel. The Windows® version is listed under the General tab.
Mac® users should click on the Apple icon in the top left corner of the Desktop. Click on About this Mac.
|Q:||What is the CONTOUR® NEXT USB operating system compatibility?|

|Q:||What happens the first time I plug my CONTOUR NEXT USB meter into my computer?|
|A:||The first time you plug your CONTOUR NEXT USB meter into your home computer, a window will open. Select ‘Open folder to view files’ to launch the GLUCOFACTS window. Double click on the GLUCOFACTS DELUXE Smart Launch Win icon and follow the instructions to install Smart Launch. Installing Smart Launch means that GLUCOFACTS DELUXE will automatically start whenever the meter is plugged in to that computer.
The first time you launch GLUCOFACTS DELUXE software, allow a few extra minutes for the program to load.
GLUCOFACTS DELUXE requires Java software, and will verify your version of Java. If needed, you will be directed to update your Java version. The latest version of Java can be downloaded at http://www.java.com or installed from the JAVA folder on the GLUCOFACTS drive. After updating Java, unplug your meter and reinsert it to re-start GLUCOFACTS DELUXE.
|Q:||The reports are not printing out. What do I do?|
|A:||Firstly, check that you have selected a report to print, and that you have chosen a date range that covers the time period you want to review. If your time period is correct, it is likely that there is an issue with your printer. Contact your printer manufacturer for assistance.|
|Q:||What do I do if I accidentally delete the folder called GLUCOFACTS DELUXE?|
|A:||It is possible to restore GLUCOFACTS DELUXE software by logging in to diabetes.ascensia.co.uk and choosing Update/Restore on your CONTOUR NEXT USB meter.|
|Q:||Why is Adobe® Reader required?|
|A:||Adobe Reader is required to view user guides and quick reference guides and to create a PDF document in GLUCOFACTS DELUXE diabetes management software that you can save and/or email to your healthcare provider or caregiver.

|Q:||Can I view results on a mobile device to share with my healthcare professional?|
|A:||Yes. There are a number of ways to view tests results via your mobile device. By far the simplest is to upload your GLUCOFACTS DELUXE reports to your personal MyReports section of the diabetes.ascensia.co.uk website. You can then view your reports on any internet compatible smartphone or tablet, and can even ask your healthcare professional to log into your account to view your reports before an appointment.|
|Q:||How do I safely eject the CONTOUR NEXT USB meter from my computer?|
|A:||Close the GLUCOFACTS DELUXE software. Then right click on the Safely Remove icon in the system tray and choose Safely Remove Hardware.|
|Q:||Can a computer virus damage my blood glucose results?|
|A:||No, there is no risk of your blood glucose results being damaged as that data cannot be accessed by a virus.|
|Q:||Will spyware interfere with the CONTOUR®NEXT USB meter?|
|A:||Spyware can interfere with the normal operation of your computer including running software applications such as GLUCOFACTS DELUXE. The use of reputable spyware detection and removal tools is highly recommended.|
|Q:||How can I get GLUCOFACTS DELUXE diabetes management software to auto-play from my CONTOUR®USB meter?|
|A:||Vista users open the Start menu, choose Control Panel, select AutoPlay. Make sure the “Use AutoPlay for all media and devices” checkbox is selected and verify that the setting for software and games is “Install or run program”.|
|A:||For Mac users, GLUCOFACTS DELUXE software must be launched from the computer desktop screen.|
|A:||Windows 7 users need to navigate to the GLUCOFACTS drive on the CONTOUR USB meter and double click the “Glucofacts.bat” file to launch the GLUCOFACTS DELUXE software. In order to provide you with better security and protection, Windows 7 have changed how it auto starts applications on removable media, like your CONTOUR USB meter.|
